Hope Box - August 21 Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, October 10, 2021

Falling Golden Leaves and Cooler Temps - Autumn is here!  Yippee!!  I can't wait to dig out my sweaters from the chest.  I gathered the last of my Salsa Chilies, Cucumbers and tomatoes from the garden as we are going to have our first freeze this week.   What have you been doing to prepare for Jack Frost?

I've been spending more time in the studio these days (after working very long days at my day job) preparing for the Carbon Valley Craft Fair on 11/13.  When am I going to learn - it's almost a monthly task of making and setting aside products to sale.   In order to get there, I needed to clean up my workspace.  I need a lot of space and I need it uncluttered in order to create.  So - I've been cleaning up and finishing some UFO's.  One of the UFO's I finished was alternatives for my August Paper Pumpkin kit - Hope Box.  It's such a beautiful kit - the colors are so cheerful.  If you missed this one and are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, click here to order the Hope Box Refill Kit.

I had a great time taking the last one of my large butterflies and floral overlay and turned it over to use it as a stencil!  I used Highland Heather, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Pads and my blending brushes to create this thank you card for my customers who purchased products in September.  I was thrilled in how it turned out!  What do you think?

I started out with a more pale option first and placed it on one of the provided card fronts from the kit.  I used the small butterfly and floral stamp from the kit with Bermuda Bay Classic Stampin' Pad and created a background on the card front.  I then cut the stenciled card down to allow more of the background to show.  I embellished with the little yellow butterfly cut out and the gorgeous pink sequins from the kit.

After making my thank you cards, I then used the colored stencil for a card!  I placed it on a white card front embossed with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.   I was grinning from ear to ear as I had no idea how even more beautiful this would be!  So simple - so pretty!

I still had supplies left so I cut of the Bermuda Bay card fronts and trimmed it down to 3 3/4" x 5" and then placed on the of the pretty "watercolor" pieces at an angle.  I attached this to a Pool Party Cardfront.  I took the Yellow tag that was to be used on the box front and attached with dimensionals.  I embellished the tag with twine.  I then took one of the flagged print pieces and placed it on top of a piece of the ribbon that came in the kit.  I frayed the ends of the ribbon just little to give it some interest!

Next I took my last printed card front and added all the remaining cutouts I had left.  I tied the Gold trim from the Simply Elegant Trim around the piece and attached it to a Blackberry Bliss Card.  I stamped the Just a note of hope sentiment from the kit and die cut with a Layering Circle die.  I then used a Sponge Dauber to edge the outer edges of the circle with Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Ink.  Another simple but beautiful ending!

Lastly, I took the big butterfly that was to be used on the box front and attached it to a pretty card front.  I embossed a Basic White card with the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.  I used my blending brushes and Highland Heather, Melon Mambo and Mango Melody Classic Stampin' Pads to create my background.  I attached the butterfly to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals and embellished with the sequins from the kit.  '

Which one is your favorite?

A couple of new products released this week and the Clearance Rack was updated with new Clearance items.

The New Love, Santa Tag Kit, the Love, Santa Treat Bags and the Love, Santa Project Collection joined the Kit Collection this week.  The Project Collection includes the Twelve adorable gift tags (3 each of 4 designs) and 12 treat bags (3 each of 4 designs).  The tags and treat bags are sold separately.  I've placed my order and will add to my craft fair projects to complete.

A beautiful new collection was released on Wednesday - Eden's Garden. This collection is an early release from the 2022 January - June Catalog and will be available for purchase starting on 11/3/21.  If you join my team, you can order your beautiful collection right now!  I just got mine on Friday and it's lovely!  I really was itching to play with it but I had to stay focused on completing card samples for an upcoming class and more projects for the craft fair - boo hoo!!!

The collection includes a stamp set and dies that can be purchased as a bundle, beautiful Designer Series Paper, two sheets of Cotton paper - one in Soft Succulent and one in Evening Evergreen, and gems (one is a marquise cut - my favorite jewel cut) in Cherry Cobbler and Soft Succulent.  The gems haven't reached the warehouse yet so I wasn't able to enjoy them yet.  The paper and Gems will only be available to order from 11/3/21 to 1/3/2021 or until supplies last.  Please order yours as early as you can.  Please contact me and I'll help you with joining my team if you are interested in getting your Eden's Garden products now!

This would be beautiful for Christmas cards and gift packaging as these two greens are so soft and perfect for the holidays!

The Clearance Rack was updated on Wednesday.  Some really great buys so stop by my online store to see what you can snag on sale!

I've been enjoying putting together the Whimsy & Wonder Card Class projects today.   I've got two more cards to complete and I'll be posting the details on the class.  I cased a couple of cards today by Tammy Wilson of Stamps, Papers, Scissors - what a great business name!  I can't wait to share them with you!  My apologies for getting so far behind this week - the day job was crazy this week - 60+ hours.  I'm counting down the weeks to retirement!  The Halloween Treat Box class yesterday was such fun - I was so excited to see the boxes take shape and how excited my crafting friends were with their completed boxes.  I worked along decorating some of the 50 boxes I have to complete for Halloween.

I'll leave you with one more alternative project from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit - Haunts and Harvest.  The 12 Pumpkin/Apple Treat boxes are absolutely the cutest!  I've completed all 12 of mine - filled with candy.  I didn't put faces on all as I was thinking I could use for Thanksgiving gifts - I'll make up my mind in a couple of weeks - lol.  This little guy was on the back of the instruction sheet - Isn't he so cute!

The Haunts & Harvest Refill Kit is available for purchase at my online store for Paper Pumpkin subscribers.  Please contact me and I would love to share how to become a Paper Pumpkin Subscriber.  Click Here for more information on Paper Pumpkin Subscription.  This is an excellent way to get started stamping.

Have a great week and enjoy the cooler, sweater weather!

Keep on Crafting!
