Celebrating In Color

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, May 23, 2022

Happy Monday!  Those of us in the Denver area endured a late Spring snowstorm.  I was fortunate that where I live we get mild storms so just a dusting of snow and a little extra effort to save our tender plants from a freeze - May 20th seemed safe.  My dad always told me, "No planting until after May 15th".  So thought I was safe.  Many of my friends in the Denver area lost big branches from their big trees.  I was so lucky that my sweet tree that just popped it's leaves in the last week was unscathed.

We finally vacated our storage unit of 8 years - I know, I know.  Who in their right mind would store junk for 8 years?  A $50 increase finally got both of our attention enough to make it happen.  Now most of it is sitting in the garage and back patio waiting for me to put together a garage sale on June 10 and 11.  I really would like to just donate all of it - but it's worth trying to sell it first.  Anyone into Elvis?  I have a lot of Elvis memorabilia that we stored from when my mom moved in with us the first time - 3 large boxes full!

I needed a break from all of that fun - and dust - so I pulled out my May 2022 Paper Pumpkin Kit - Celebrating in Color!  What a pick me up this kit was as it uses the luscious new 2022-2024 In Colors:  Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky and Orchid Oasis!  One of my customers - Janice Miller - received a Golden Ticket in her kit this month!  Congratulations Janice!  Whoop whoop!  I ordered two kits - and the one I opened didn't have a ticket.  If anyone is interested in my other kit - send me an email at bonnie_hershfeldt@comcast.net and it's yours.  Maybe you will be lucky like Janice!

I made alternates from the original design by cutting a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card base using the coordinating cardstock for each card. I cut the card fronts off of each of the kits card bases and trimmed one of each down to 5 1/4" x 4".  I left one of each as is.  I put the cut down card front onto the coordinating card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I then finished the cards as designed.  I used the other side of the cut down card based from the kit and trimmed them to 5 1/4" x 4" and used for the inside inserts.  I used the remaining card fronts and adhered them to their coordinating card front aligning tops, bottoms and side edges.  I just wanted to savor the colors I could have left them uncut and used them as designed.

If you haven't yet tried a Paper Pumpkin kit - you really need to give one a try!  They are a total surprise of what you are going to get so you definitely need to be up for a surprise!  Everything is included in your kit to complete as designed.  You can always take products from your stash to come up with alternatives.

I didn't use the gift card holders as designed to place on the inside of the cards, but rather made gift tags to attach to gifts in the coming months.  I saw this on suggested other ideas on the back of the instruction sheet.  I really like the idea of attaching to a gift!   Watch for this week's newsletter to see a finished gift tag!

Our Monthly Kit Gathering is this Friday, 5/27.  Please RSVP by Wednesday, 5/25 so I know how many place settings to plan for.
