Happy Friday! I heard birds chirping yesterday and Wednesday the temperature was 62 degrees! Spring is coming - at least a sneak peek! Colorado Spring weather can be a bit crazy but I so enjoy those brief warm days bringing the hopes of warm weather, sprouting flowers and grass getting a little greener!
I am in Colorado Springs this weekend at a crafting retreat. The majority of those attending (26 women) are scrapbooking, but I brought my card kits with the hope to complete all of my unfinished kits! I made a trip to a local scrapbooking store today with my friend Sherry. The store was celebrating their 29th anniversary - that's not an easy feat for small crafting businesses these days! Wow - I was like a kid in a candy store and of course, left a lot of cash on the counter today! I can't wait to go scrapbooking mid April with my BFF, Yvonne, to play with my new paper crafting supplies! I found a beautiful paper pack of Alice in Wonderland. My mom would introduce herself in the last year as Alice in Wonderland - so I thought it was perfect to scrapbook some of the photos that I recently pulled for her memory boards.
I played with the lovely Detailed Dogwood Cling Stamp Set today and made a pretty Thank You card! I so love this stamp set with 10 vintage like images, especially the cute little dragonfly. I am so sad that this will be retiring in 6 days!!!
Dogwoods are such pretty trees. I don't know if I have seen many Dogwoods in our area. I know that our climate does well with flowering Crabapple trees, and various fruit trees. We have a Linden tree in our front yard. I love the lovely scent from the blossoms in early summer. Although, I don't enjoy the hornets that like to nest in the pretty tree.
I colored my Dogwood blossoms with Melon Mango and Flirty Flamingo Watercolor Pencils leaving the tips of the large blossoms white. I started out with a Blending Brush, but quickly moved to my Watercolor Pencils as I wanted more of a soft yet vibrant appearance. I was thrilled with the results. What do you think?
