Another Thoughtful Journey Sympathy Card

by Bonnie Hershfeldt, July 02, 2024

Happy 4th of July!  What the heck happened to June?  We are visiting friends in beautiful Polson, Montana for the holiday.  I so wished that we would have purchased land in this beautiful little town by Flathead Lake.  It's rather cool here compared to Frederick, Colorado - twenty degrees cooler!  I'm loving the cool temperatures but today is not a great day to go hang out at the lake for unfortunately.  We are going to head up to Glacier National Park tomorrow to enjoy the beautiful scenery of this national park that was established in 1910.

Another month has flown by where I had best laid plans for blogging and streaming, but you know - when a day of fun with a crafting friend presents itself you have to jump in and enjoy the day!  I so enjoy crafting with my bestie, Yvonne and Brittany (my future daughter-in-law) spent time last week making festive t-shirts and sweatshirts for all of us to bring with us on our trip to Montana.  I've enjoyed spending time learning how to use my Cricut machine for other than titles for scrapbook pages - lol!  Michelle Nemnich will be so proud of me!  She is my Cricut hero!

I thought I would share another lovely card I created for my recent Thoughtful Journey card class that I held last Thursday.  The Thoughtful Journey 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper is so inspirational for creating lovely cards to send to loved ones when they are hurting from the loss of someone.

I created my own background for the card front using Basic White cardstock.  I used my Blending Brushes to blend a soft background similar to the one from the lovely pieces of Thoughtful Journey DSP using the following Stampin' Classic inks:  Pool Party, Wild Wheat, Petunia Pop and Mossy Meadow.  I then stamped 3 long stalk images from the Thoughtful Wishes Cling Stamp Set using Wild Wheat.  I separated one strand of twine from the 2023 - 2025 In Color Jute Trim in Wild Wheat to tie a sweet bow around the focal piece.  I added three Adhesive-backed Textured Dots.  I love the texture on this antique looking brass like dots.  They almost look like a center of a sunflower!  The sentiment is heat embossed on Basic Black cardstock with White Embossing Powder.  We now have WOW! Basics and WOW! Metallic Embossing Powders in stock!  How do you think it turned out?  Do you make your own backgrounds for your card fronts?  If not, give this simple, but effective, technique a try!  I bet you will be amazed at how quickly and inexpensively you can create stunning backgrounds for your own cards!

Enjoy your 4th of July Holiday celebrating your best with your loved ones!  Think of me cringing as my husbands loads up the tube with one of those fancy explosive fireworks!  Take care and ...

KEEP ON CRAFTING!
